Santiago De Compostela

The church in Santiago is the site of the remains of St. James, the Apostle. For hundreds of years, pilgrims have hiked, biked, and travelled from various villages in Europe towards Santiago to pay homage. This continues to happen today. Inside the church and throughout the city, it was easy to tell the pilgrims from the rest: the pilgrims  were all carrying backpacks and holding their canes while quietly praying. Inside the church is a large hanging "censer". This urn is swung during High Mass to bless the congregation with incense.
