Nice

Nice faces the Mediterranean Sea. The water on the beaches have a characteristic color. The dark blue deep portions stand out from the light greenish shallow portions. The beach is a convenient 5 minute walk from downtown. The sunbathers - many are topless - did not seem to mind cars and pedestrians passing. 

A walkpath overlooking the beach area goes up a hill, about a 15 minute climb. Atop the hill is a beautiful waterfall

Monte Carlo (Monaco)

 Monte Carlo is a 30 minute drive east of Nice. It is famous for its glitzy casino and luxury wharfs, which make it a favorite spot for celebrities.

The casino building is huge and impressive as it overlooks both the sea and the mountains.
