When Kristee's  work at Cannes finished, we spent a day with her friends exploring some of the Provencal hill towns just north of Cannes.

First item on the agenda is a cheap lunch: freshly baked panini's at a Grasse boulangerie.

Grasse

We began our excursion at about 12 noon in the town of Grasse, some 20 minutes north of Cannes. After a brief lunch, we took a tour of the Fragonard perfume factory museum.

Some of the equipment and containers they use at Fragonard to mix perfume have been there since the early 1900's.

Gourdon

Some 30 minutes east of Grasse, the town of Gourdon sits on the top of a hill.

A closer look at the town.

Gorges Du Loup

The road further east of Goudon is a zig-zag route through Gorges du Loup ("the Gorge of the Wolf").

Hidden among its plethora of rocky hills, caves, trees, and rivulets is this waterfall right alongside a highway tunnel.

St. Paul De Vence

When you take a tour of this small village, it's as good as visiting an art museum. Little alleyways connect together a maze of stores with an amazing collection of art - paintings, sculptures, jewelry, etc.

We arrived at St. Paul De Vence just a few minutes before sunset. Most of the stores were already closed. However, the ambience offered excellent opportunities for very interesting low-light and night shots.
