Budapest

The capital of Hungary originally was two cities, "Buda" and "Pest", which aree physically separated by the River Danube.  Budapest is the very first city in Eastern Europe we visited.

We arrived at dusk, which offered unique photo opportunities.

Meticulous and intricate designs on church rooftops and windows and even at the baptismal font.

Cross  the Danube on one of three bridges to go from Buda to Pest and vice versa.

The Liberation Monument is a giant statue that stands at the Citadella, a hilltop fortress, visible from almost anywhere near the river.

Go up to Citadella for fantastic panoramic views of the city, including the magnificent Parliament building.

A variety of domes and spires everywhere you look.
