Our first two stops along the passage were
the towns of Ketchikan and Juneau. Prior to the trip, we had an impression that we would have to brace for
bitterly cold and/or rainy weather, so we were pleasantly surprised with
the Spring-like conditions (15-18oC) and sunny days at all four stops
of the trip.

The Ketchikan ship parking lot
was full. Other ships, like the Island Princess, have occupied all
spots on the docks. Hence, we were brought to shore by these little boats,
called "tenders", while our ship was anchored at sea.

|
| We rode a cable car that took us atop a
small hill where you can get this panoramic view of the docks.

|
| There are a lot of totem poles
around town, some less than 10 feet tall while others go as high as 30
feet. |
 |
 |
| Creek Street is a nice little
shopping area along, what else, the creek!

We arrived in Juneau mid-morning; we had a
fantastic view as we approached the village.
|
 |
 |
We docked the ship in the heart of town. |
| Then we took a 4-minute bus trip to
Mendenhall Glacier.

You can get quite close to the Mendenhall
Glacier if you are brave enough to traverse the melted ice. |
| For shop-a-holics, there's tons of jewelry
and souvenirs to choose from. Take a walk or tour the town in the trolley.
