The Inside Passage

The most memorable experience of this trip was when the ship traversed narrow portions of the passage to get to the Sawyer Glacier. We spent most of that period at the ship's fore (the wind was blistering cold!).

Almost anywhere in the passage, there are blue hues of mountains in front of you.

Occasionally, you will see islands, some with lighthouses (like this one) and a few boats, seals, and dolphins.

As the ship moved closer to the location of the Sawyer Glacier, the passage becomes narrower.

The ship had to be careful dodging icebergs like these (90% of an iceberg is underwater). Remember Titanic?

Dozens of waterfalls adorn the passage.

Behind the ship, the sun was slowly setting.

In the approach to the Sawyer Glacier, the captain slowed down the ship to a crawl; we were precariously close to land.
The final turn towards the glacier was a glorious scene: a mammoth chunk of bluish ice is just in front of us.

We were so close, we even witnessed some ice cracking inside a big hole on the glacier. The hole got a little  bigger while we were there!!

As we were leaving the glacier
