This is the birthplace of the Republic of
California, which was established when Mexico won its independence from Spain in
the mid-1800's. The town has preserved many of its old houses and buildings.
The town attractions include Bazaar Del
Mundo, a
visitors' compound featuring Mexican food, knick knack stores, and tropical
plant life.
