Boarding and
disembarking was also a new and unique experience for us.

Our friend,
Ivy, was kind enough to drop us off at the Long Beach port entrance. |
Long Beach
The cruise
begins and ends at the Long Beach terminal in Los Angeles.
|
 |
|
The
beaches are just a few minutes away from the docks. |

The Queen
Mary, a Liverpool ship that was converted into a hotel, is adjacent to
the half-dome port entrance for boarding the Ecstasy.

the beaches, where you can see the Queen Mary in the distance.
(We had a picnic here
with friends and watched the July 4th fireworks spectacle on the day
that our ship returned.) |

Catalina
Harbor
The island
has no docking area for the cruise ship so you the Ecstasy is anchored a
few miles away from shore. You leave and reenter the ship through small
motor boats that taxi back and forth from the harbor.

Ensenada Harbor

A small
welcome area is situated at the docks. From there, you can take services
buses to take you downtown for $2 per person or take a brisk walk. There
are armed soldiers providing security for the area. |
